Information & details: This book is the 1st of 3 published in that series.
It was written in 1993 and does show its age even if it was reprinted and errors were corrected a number of times. This is one heavy book to read as there are very little pictures. I would say the first half of the book is on chemistry, lighting, filtration methods etc. And the other half is about the pests, fish, corals, invertebrates.

Picture quality: The pictures are quite small, some could be improved. The sketches and drawings are good and really try to point out what you should be looking for. I wish they could have put more pics in, specially in the first half of the book.

Build quality: HardCover book, Ok, but I wouldn't drop it on the sides it could tear apart... no kids on this one. Its not a pocket book, great size for home reading.

Overall: Overwhelming amount of data once again, These books are another must have in the library and were a great success in their time. Some of the filtration methods are lighting setups are have been largely surpassed and I think it adds a bit to this books value. Some of the information in here was quite new and most basics still used today.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.
