    Cheap Wave Makers?

I'm sure you've seen the thread on RC where a user mods a "wally world 24 hour timer" to significantly speed up the timer to act as a wave-maker.

I just wanted to report I was able to mod the generic timers available at home depot/canadian tire to a similar purpose. It seems the timer goes around once every 6 minutes or so, instead of the usual 24 hour rotation!. I am currently stress testing it to make sure I'm not putting too much load on the motor, so far my basement lights click off-on-off about every 30 secs.

    So far so good!

    Cheap wave makers anyone?

That's cool.. Which powerheads would you run with this? I don't think the SEIOs are supposed to be used like this are they?

This is the way to go RC Link for Swirlerstien

No more shortening the pumps life by turning it on and off all the time, and its really easy to make.

That's a pretty sweet idea.. I would think that big enclosure would block some of your lighting though wouldn't it? Unless you could mount it above your lights somehow.

No the box is a 4x4x2 pvc electrical box which is kinda small. When you first look at it you think "How the hell am I going to get everything in there?"

I've been running mine for about a week now and love it. I currently have 2 AC 402s on it and the flow is excellent. Once I get the parts I'm going to change the power heads out to a modified MaxiJet with RC boat props (MaxiStream). With the Swirler on one side and a Seio 2600 on the other side of my 5' tank, my DSB is taking a sh** kicking. I may take the DSB out now instead of later this year when I need to take the tank down to move.
