    Make your own rock

Has anyone attemped to make thier own Rock?
My wife, kids and I had some fun today..... What a mess....
Ended up with about 80lbs of rocks.
Portland type II/III cement & crushed oyster shell. Didnt take much time at all and works out to be around .10 cents a lb. Now the 2 months curing time thats another story.... to be continued......

I've made some... but they were frag plugs... same thing just much smaller pieces of rock. Change the water as often as you can while they are curing... I was thinking to put the next batch in the toilet reservoir... this way the water gets changed after every flush!! :

We have a two sided laundy tub Figured I would load that up put a string in the plug, bubble wand in the bottom easy for a weekly water change.

Honey, Why are there rocks in the toilet tank? This isn't another thing to do with the aquarium is it?:hammerhea

Ivan: I think that idea has some legs. Be careful though, too many rocks will displace too much water and the toilet won't flush.:bomb2:

Steve (Kingfisher) has done lots of this. He gets some really great shapes too. After it's been in the tank a while you can't tell it from the real thing.

hey IJO, now you are on to something, perhaps we can just put a huge salt vat at the water main of the house, or just connect the main to the sea, and all the faucets will be running fresh marine water. think of all the places we will be able to have reefs - showers, sinks, toilets, bath tubs, dishwasher - and that will make a market for All-Glass appliances (this way we can still see the reef though the washing machine or toilet lid).
Van, can this be done as a DIY?
