    Overflow through bulkheads

A few months back I remember seeing some pictures of a 3" ABS overflow mounted on a 1.5" bulkhead with an elblow. I thought this was a pretty clean design that used a lot less room than a traditional corner overflow.

Well, my 120 gal (4' x 2' x 2') is being delivered to Big Al's in Montreal next week and I need to get it drilled for my overflows.

Could someone give me their opion of this type of setup? Also, could you also post a picture of how it's put together?

How far down the back wall of the tank should the hole be drilled?

Finally, how far out the back of the tank does the setup stick out (assuming you use a T connector with a vertical pipe to control air inflow and noise).

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I think you're asking about this:

It's generally referred to as a 'OSD' overflow.

Thanks! That's exactly the picture I was thinking about.
