    My Foam Aquascape

Here's a pic of my 90gal under construction: I used black pond foam.

Although quite cool it looks a little like a giant tube worm left "deposits" all over your tank.
    Pretty cool idea though.

i think the rounded edges look unnatural, have you thought about covering that with shotcrete?

I'm working on the live rock placement today & I think things will be coverd up nicely, seems to blend. I'm going to encourage encrusting type corals to spread on the foamwork as well. We'll see how it goes.

I use that stuff on my outside pond and I find it breaks down after awhile but I would think it is under harsher conditions outside. It dose look cool.

I think it looks very nice. It'll look even better once you have corals and coraline algea all over it.
90G bb mixed reef set up in April 2005. I had 40g mixed reef for one year before that

can I ask why you used foam?? liverock is a pretty major part of your filtration system. if it was cost or being enviromently friendly you could make your own liverock and add real liverock to it to seed it. many have made this including myself. its a novel idea what your doing but might not be good for the tank in the long haul. I imagine the saltwater could degrade that foam in a few years. not trying to rain on your parade but wouldn't want you to have major tank issue later on.
