DIY scraper ( to use with magfloat etc )

    Hi guys,
I've had a hard time getting a hold of a scraper lately.. so decided to make my own.

    super simple.

use a piece of acrylic 1/4" think ( for strenght )
cut it about 1-1/2" long for about 4" then angle the ends at 45deg for ~ 2"
using a propane torch, bend the end where the triangle forms and hold it on your mag float until its bent at about a 30deg angle. make sure the acrylic is not touching the surfave by about 2mm.

then drill two holes in it and tap it and use plastic screws.
cut a small plastic plate to hold the blade in, insert blade and tighten screws

    TADA!, DIY mag scraper.

    cost, ~5-6$

free acrylic junk from Canus plastic, cheapo x-acto blade, 2x 1/4" screws from Canus plastics about 1$ each or less.

    I'll post a pic in a sec.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

Liv, it looks great!! I wimped out and bought one from J&L for $15. It does work great, the glass has not looked that good since about a week after setting up the tank.

I wish our plastics store had that. I pay the same /sq.ft price for a 1"x1" scrap as I do for a 4x8 sheet.

    ouch !
ya, Canus has the right attitude, why not either give it free.. or sometimes they will charge me a few bucks.. but its ok... can't be all free.
its also not a steady supply. so some weeks nothing. some other weeks lots.
    nice people too.
