    Wiring MH distance?

I will be wiring my 250 MH set up this week. Dose anyone know if there is a maximum stated distance that the bulbs can be away from the E-Ballasts ? I really don't want them ballasts anywhere near the tank.

    ballast

It does tend to differ between ballasts but the average is around 10' or less with no probs.

16' is safe with cap/transformer types.

Check out the IceCap website, I think I saw a fair distance for their ballasts.

I would ask your manufacturer if you want to be safest.

HMMM .... there is no English on the ballast so I guess I will just keep the distance as short as is possible and see what happens. I know that with the 400 wire and coil one I have the recommended distance is 10 feet max. This use of E-Ballasts will be the first time for me. They sure are a LOT SMALLER and I like that. Perhaps I will be OK if I use a large enough gauge of wire between them and the bulb. ANYBODY know if they MUST be turned on and off with a mechanical switch like the older wire and coil types?

I think you should look up the manufacturer for the ballast on the web.

The IceCap Electronic 250w spec sheet:
    http://www.icecapinc.com/pdf/250mh.pdf

    Says Max Mounting Distance 33feet

My PFO HQI cap & transformer ballast allows me to add one 8' extension cable to the existing 8' = 16'.

Max Mounting Distance for my 660 IceCap VHO ballast is 50'.

So, inquire! Best to know so you can have the cable room you need.

If it is one of our E-Ballast, they should be fine upto 12 feet.

    Thanks

Hi venkiw . yes I think they may be one of your ballasts. When i was referring to a switch I was referring to a timer switch. The older ones MUST use a mechanical times switch. I was hoping that the E-ballasts might be OK on electronic times.
    Thanks
