    building equipment/sump room

I'm going to frame a basement wall (or two) in an area that'll hold my sump and equipment. I need to frame the walls so that I can run electrical outlets etc. The walls have already been insulated by the builder (I'm in a new home).

What's your opinion, should I use wood or steel studs to frame the walls? I don't intend to drywall it unless I really really have to and have absolutely nothing else to do.....:b7:

Steel may be easier since the beams are straight...but I can see this rusting just at the site of salt water.

steel isn't recommended for basements, because as you said there's a good chance they will get wet ( regardless of sump room ) and the SW will only make it worse.

    wood all the way :b15:

Those steel beams are ok if you add drywall... otherwise they are not strong at all. I went with steel in my basement and if I had to do it again... I would go with wood.
