    Question Will this work???

    Hi everyone,

I'm using the coralife 96W PC lights on my 10 gallons and it's been working pretty well.

However, I REALLY WANT to switch to MH if possible. Does anyone know if I can modify the existing hood I have to fit a MH into it?

Also, how many watts would I require?

REALLY really appreciate any advice possible.

    Thank you!

I've been doing lotsa thinking and have been trying to think of ways to minimize cost and loss.

I've more or less narrowed down to making my own hood out of wood...something like DSparks idea:

However, I want to reuse the 96W PC bulb I have and so I've decided to go with 1 70W MH light and the 96W PC bulb...

Is this crazy for the amount of light there is?

As for the issue of heat, my decision is to throw in 2 PC fans, 1 for intake and 1 for output...

I saw that post and I must say very nice. Lots of people have 70w mh on their nano's, will pc add to the heat sure but you should be fine. Are you going to make it an actinic?

Well, I do have a 96W PC which is 50/50...but i think it's too much light...

If I can sell the PC, I'll probably just add 1 or 2 13W actinic bulbs...
