Need advice to cut plexiglass please!! !!!

    Hi everyone,

I am trying to build a small box in plexiglass that will hold and protect my floatswitchs from wave and current. I have try to cut some retails of plexiglass ( 1/4 inch = thicness) by scrashing it with an appropraite cutter to make and chanel. But when I have try to break it along the channel it have a :guns: crap!!!. Is there anyone that is experinced working with plexiglass (like maybe Harley) that could tell me a good cheap way to cut plexiglass. I can burrow some tools from my dad if I would need some electric tools... Thank you everyone !!

I have built many things using acrylic/plexiglass. I have used a dremel, table saw, chop saw, jigg saw, router, and even a hand saw to cut it. They have all worked very well, some do take longer than others though. Good luck!

I have never used a special blade/bit to cut or drill it. I just used what ever blade that was in the saw. No I have never tried bending it, but I don't think that it would be that hard. Plexi is a very forgiving material to work with.

You need to get a blade with a high teeth count. They are also the ones for cutting ply wood.

Look In the Yellow pages under plastic... That's what I did, and I found a great supplier, they also sell the glue there as well.
