    I'm currently reading:

    http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaver...ementRock.html

and I've looked at the stuff at GARF, but I haven't tried any of it yet.

If you want a hand, give me a shout I'd be interested in it just for the experiance. I'm thinking when I get my big tank I'll make a lot of the rock too.

    Cheers!

Some sites mention using "white cement" which is a low Alkalinity cement... are you planning on using this type of cement?

I have used crushed oyster shells (Chicken feed, about $12.00/50lb bag) from Ritchies feed and seed.

Does it actually matter what kind of cement you use? I've read portland 1 or 2 and it doesn't matter.

The doesn't matter crowd says only the curing time changes with the mix & you might have to leave the rocks in the back of your toilet longer so they don't keep hydrating in your tank. Which is pretty close to kalk.

    Cheers!

    Cool

LIV. PORTLAND 1 OR 2 works. you'll need arregonite sand for molds, seashells help for out side of rock texture, oyster shells[RITCHIES] off of INNES road. and either carribsea sand and/or arregonite sand. ratio is 1 cement to 5 parts of each other mixture. add water to make like porrage not to thin not to thick. make shapes in the moist sand[inside a container] and just pour in mix. you can add more shells on top and then some sand. leave a few days then cure in water for 6 to 10 weeks doing weekly water changes.
