    Float switch brackets

    Hi Everyone,

I just thought that I would pass along my bracket idea for float switches. I bought an auto top-off unit from Tang_Man, but I was having problems figuring out a way to mount the float switches to the sump and resevoir. Well, I bought 2 plastic Christmas wreath brackets at Canadian tire ($3.99). The brackets have 2 parts to them: One with holes to adjust the length, and another straight piece to hold the wreath. One end clips over the door, and the other has a hook on the end to hang the wreath. It can extend to 17". I separated the 2 pieces, and took out my blow torch, and melted the bracket with the holes in it and bent it at 90 degrees. I then heated a drill bit equal to the size of the shaft of the float switch. It melted like butter. The bracket can now hang over the sump, and the float switch mounts in the newly enlarged hole. I used another float switch in the resevoir mounted upside down to prevent pump burn-out. I connected the float switches in series, pluged in the power-head and presto-majico; an auto top-off unit!

Thanks to Tang_man for a great unit. I hope that this little tip helps others with a float switch bracket problem.

    Good luck,

    GaryK

    Great idea Gary!
Get some pics if you can...
I'm gonna drop by Canadian Tire and see if I can find what you're talking about.

Glad you like the floatswitch unit!

I may sound stupid, but I've never posted anything with a picture. Can you give me the quick step by step.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Talking Float switch picture

Here is a picture of the float switch bracket for the resevoir. The one for the sump has the float switch mounted in reverse.

    FYI
