    Workhorse 7 Ballast

    Hello,

    Will 1 Workhorse 7 power 2 VHO 110W???

The maximum power of the W7 is 220W...

logically if it powers 4 T5 55W it should power 2 VHO 110W

    am I right!!!

    ?????????????????????????????????????

Depends who you listen too. Fulham (the manufacturer) says 'no' but many people do it. There is lots more info about WH7's on the site. You can do a search for the appropriate threads.

no it will not safely run Mulitple VHO bulbs due to the Amperage needs of the bulbs! .. Many will run more than one with no issues.. But Fulham clearly says NOT TO DO IT !.. and there have been many cases.. Myself included where the Endcaps Catch fire causing fires with in our canopies.. Somthing that is really not worth the risk.. Pay the extra $50 and get another ballast !..

Not to dispute the advice to buy a second one, but I thought the discussion of the fires had found no link to the ballast or lamp load. Rather, the problems were due to other issues such as arcing in the end caps due to installation or similar problems.

well, yes and no... some endcap fires actually have been linked to the filament inside the VHO breaking lose or bad manufactoring. it touches the inside glass and gets to hot,,
there is also possiblitys that the VHO lamps maybe maxing out the ballast even thought its rated for it. anyways,, people ARE doing it but me personally,, if the company says its not safe then I wouldn't. insurance and fire investigators are not stupid people
