    Workhorse 7 Ballast Heatsink

I've noticed that many people are going to the Fulham Workhorse 7 ballast, yet seem concerned over the excessive heat generated.

You'll notice how Icecap put a u-channel aluminum extrusion with machined slots at the base of their ballast for cooling.

A good economical solution with minimal investment other than expensive machining of those slots.

I'll be asking a local supplier in Montreal, of aluminum stock, if he has any aluminum extrusions and the price per foot ...

I forsee this to be an even more economical and efficient way to cool those Workhorse 7 ballasts.

I also am waiting for an RFQ from a heatsink manufacturer in the States on qty (1), (10) & (100) pieces ... that would fit this ballast.

Utimately, if all goes well, I will present you with an attractive heatsink design, offset from the mounting surface so the damn thing doesn't light your canopy on fire ... :

    It's not junk, it's un-assembled DIY!

I bought the metal studs for house construction and attached 6 small rubber feet. Ballast is installed in my canopy with a fan blowing across it .
