    Overflow advice

Hey, I'm getting a 125g tank drilled soon and was wondering about the overrflow. I like the one without a box like in OSDs overflow post but was wondering how far down should i get it drilled from the top.

I was also wondering what would be the best size hole to have for the overflows (one in each corner) My return pump right now is a mag 24.

you can adjust the height of the pipe inside a bit but I would say 3'' from the top would be safe.

I'd suggest pushing that up to 4-5" from the top (below the trim on the tank). You will have more options and adjustment.

And, for a 125, I would consider two overflows, one each end.

or would that be pushing it down??? yes 3'' was the minimum. also 2 drains would be WAY better as CRES mentioned also 1'' bulkheads work but go 1.5'' IMO.

Uh, yeah, down to 4-5 inches.

This is my drain, at 4.5 inches below the trim. Those are 1.5" ABS fittings.

As you can see there is some room, but, not a lot for adjustment.

I have rebuilt the overflow and I will do so again soon (I'll post some pictures once I do).
