    Sump Idea

    Hey guys,

Thought I might get your input on some design idea I found. Anyone ever used a rubbermaid stock tank for a sump?

    Check this URL:

    http://home.comcast.net/~76fxe/sump.htm

I'm thinking about putting a sump in the basement with a pressure-rated pump (e.g. Iwaki) back to the 1st floor. That way I could have all the "dirty" stuff and fuge in the basement.

Opinions? I have a super sump design from previous thread so I don't know how I could apply it to the 100g tub... It seems you can't really glue baffles to those tubs.

    cheers,
    st

Nope, you can't put baffles in. However, you CAN put smaller rubbermaid containers to act as separate areas/baffles within the sump.

sweet idea, what do you think of the overall idea of using this container as a sump? In the basement, e.g. more accessible, put a fuge above it, etc....

If you have the room, by all means go for it.

The left side shows the height, the bottom shows GPM (gallons per minute). At 12 feet you're looking at about 14 GPM or 840 GPH.

Any other pump suggestions? The Iwaki are awesome but a bit on the pricey side ;-)
