    Question Hood Question

I had recently built a new hood for my tank and used an open back design to allow for all of my equipment as I do not have a sump. Now I had not had a problem but something must have spooked my basslet and he jumped out the back :bawling: .

Now other then the sump idea, does anyone have any suggestions on how to close off the back of the hood? I was thinking of something like a drop sheet that could just rest over the equipment or something, just so that it is not as easy for fish to just jump out.

    Any suggestions would be great.

You can get a plastic screen material. I used that. I hung it from the hood. Used a staple gun to attach the three sides of it. Then made cut outs for the equipment.

Egg crate would probally work, if you're unfamiliar with it, its like a plastic grid used to diffuse flourescent lighting. Home Depot carries it.

I used egg crate which I fastened in place using some of the plastic ties for securing electrical wires. That meant I could move it out of the way to access equipment. Also, a tip I learned for cutting egg crate: use wire cutters (the type for electrical wire) rather than a saw.

Sorry about the basslet. I assume you found him/her too late to save? :-(

Yeah, it was too late, it was there for the morning feeding, then I went to check the skimmer after I got back from a hair cut, and there is was. I really liked that fish too, very nice in the tank.

Thanks for the ideas guys, is there any chance that any of you have pictures that you could post or email to me?
