    Clownfish with "creamy" fins

My two Clownfish something, but I don't know what.

The clear portions of their fins have become almost a creamy colour. They are still eating, but acting very strange, malaise almost. They also have small patches of white tinge scales, but not like Ick (at least I hope not). They are not small grains, more like small cotton like patches, but very faint.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

I've had one for about 3 months, the other for about 1 month.
Their breathing is ok. The female (or larger one) keeps it's mouth open, but hasn't affected her eating, until today. Niether of them will really eat today. They chased the food as usual, but didn't eat.

    I'm trying to attach pictures.

are the fins just discoloured or are they deteriorating too?

i can't really see the "cotton" patches, how big are they? and how many?

    what are your water params?

    do you have QT tank?

    Parms are all fine.
The patches are not showing up very well in the pictures, or at least in any of the pictures I've taken. I'll try to get some more.

I do have a QT tank, unfortuntely, it has an inhabitant right now. If necessary, I'll make another one if this is going to be something funky, or contageous.

Oh, the fins currently are just discoloured. They have not cracked or flaked off yet.

to me "cotton" sound like fuzzy and would indicate a fungus but i can't see anything. fungus growth is usually a secondary infection of a wound or other problem. the amount of time you have had the fish and the lack of respiratory distress rules out a few of the common problems. ( not entirely but ..... )

did they end up eating today?

    what do you feed them?

Have you noticed any patches of eggs anywhere in the tank
the discoloration on the fins may be from them digging up or defending their territory or purhaps bitting from courting.
    just a thought

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.
