    Parasite found on clown... video

Noticed that the smaller of my 2 clowns had a weird looking 'thing' attached to it. The fish seemed to be suffering so we took it out to see if we could get this 'thing' off. Put the clown on a paper towel and the 'thing' just popped off.

I wonder if the thing was feeding off the fish and or was lying eggs.

    Any ideas?

    Scary!

I bought a niger trigger from bigals a few years back and noticed a bunch of clear colored oval things all over it. I gave him a 5min freshwater dip and they all jumped off.

    Turns out they were flukes.

There are a few marks on the fish. The 'thing' isopod was one the fish for maybe 8 hours, we look at the fish alot. Someone at RC suggested it was a Cirolanidae Isopoda, info can be found here....

I actually have never seen those before. Hope the clown is ok and there are not anymore of those bugs in your tank.

The clown is still doing OK. I should have never bought rock that had been sitting at the bottom of the tank for many years... in the mud/gunk... knew there would be some nasties.

Also noticed another weird looking 'thing' tonight... looks like a snail without the shell but if VERY purple in colour and has antenna.

Nope. This one is actually purple with yellow antenna. Hard to get a picture cause I only see the underside.
