    Foxface with ick

    Hi,

So it's been around three weeks that I have the fish in my tank... And now he start having ick(around 7 to 8 little dot). And nothing new as been added to the tank(that is running since two month with good and stable test result).

So what should I do... Is there something I can put in my tank to treat him, or do I have to try to scoop it out to treat him. Also he is still eating like a pig... he's chasing around in the flow the food I gave them.

Thank you for all your help,

I got some a yellow tang, cleaning crew(snails), torch, candy cane, mushroom and some zoa.

As for if it's ICK... It reallly look like it. It's seems to be small salt grain. He got some one the body and top fin. I'l try to get some picture but I dont have a good caméra and I'm not sure you will be able to see something.

    Thank you,

Tangs and fox faces have heavy slime coating and are well known as ICH carriers. If you don't want to treat ALL the fish in a QT and leave the display tank FISHLESS for 30 days add some cleaner shrimp and hope they will in fact clean up the fox face and any other infected fish.

I'l go with the cleaner shrimp at next pay day... As for the UV lamp I was looking into this. But first I need to get a return pump so I can start the sump.

Does a cleaner wrasses(I think it's the name) could help too.

    Thank's for all your help,

I would go with the cleaner shrimp over the wrasses. Try to get cleaners that are on the small side. M own experience is that they stop cleaning when they get big.
IMO UV is a good addition to any tank but it will not cure an existing condition. However it will, once added, help control the spread of pathogens withing the system.

Everything is gone from the fish... and it took a couple of hours and it was gone. Since then nothing else has appear on the foxface. And the Tang too is spotless. So I'm not sure it was Ick. But it really look like as I got some a while ago in my tropical tank(silver dollar and angel). So maybe I was wrong.

Thank you for all your help... And UV is the next thing after the sump is started.
