new clown fish
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum as well as to saltwater aquarium tanks. I just bought 2 baby :clown: clown fish, however they seem really shy, and are hiding behind the lr. We've had them for about 2 days now. Is this normal, and will they eventually come out more often?
Any suggestions on what other fish to introduce to the tank next?
Thanks for the help!
I need it!

my clowns did the same thing
do they come out to feed

yep...they do come out to feed...and even as I type, they seem to be getting bolder!!!
Will they host in a green hair polyp or a xenia until my tank is mature enough for an anemone?

i know mines does host in a mushrooms but there are not all the same .perhaps they will

Don't worry, I went through the same anxiety. It took about a week for mine to become comfortable with the tank. The moved from day to day to a different section and stayed until the following day. They always came out for feeding but would then retreat to thier newest hideout. Now they seem to be hosting my powerhead.
In time they'll become a very happy addition for you as I find mine to quit the characters.
Good luck and be patient.

i am thinking of getting clowns. (they are small, have cute personalities (like nemo), and are cheap, plus they will hopefully survive in my tank).
Which clowns would you suggest? and how can i get a pair that will live happily together? will they be aggressive towards other fish i may get?

If you want easy going clowns, go with the Ocellaris clowns. Real gentle and won't bother anyone.
My experience with other types is they get pretty nasty once they've staked out a part of the tank. Especially Maroons and Clarkii's.
Go for the tank raised clowns, they have a much higher survival rate. :thumb:
