Simple powerhead question

OK, here's a real simple (and dumb) question. I got my first MaxiJet PH and am putting it together. The instructions are based around using it to drive an undergravel filter. I'm not doing that. So, my question:

The unit has tubing to attach an air intake/venturi unit to the outflow. Am I correct that this is not needed to use the MJ as a powerhead only?

you are correct sir! this is not needed. There should be a little clear plastic plug that fits right in there.

You don't even have to put the plastic plug in...it'll just draw water through the whole....

yeh at least the newer ones have a little clear plug you can insert were the air hose goes. Those new MAXIS 1200 by the way rock big time! and there smaller than the older model with the pinkish writing. I put one in my 25g to mix up salt overnight and was suprized at the wirlpool in there!

I have one of those new 1200's too.

By the way, what I use to mix water will knock your powerhead on it's back anyday!!
I use a Mag 9.5 with a Kent venturi on the output. YEAH BABY!!!!!!

hehe I just started using a MAG 7 to mix salt in a 5 gallon jug.. gotta love it!!
