Many have them as small as 2 gallons. Called nano tanks.

For my small tank-I'm running a little 12g. It's an Eclipse tank- not designed for sw, but it works just fine. About 10lbs of LR, a bali green brain, a torch and some star polyps is what I have + 2 clarki clownfish, a blood shrimp and about a dozen hermit crabs (blue legs).
I don't have pictures with me, but I'll post some asap.
The other tank (waiting on my LR to progress further) is a 90g w/sump.

    Cheers,

    Jean

Found some pics from another thread I'd posted on...there's more LR now, and the star polyps are on the far right hand side of the tank, the brain has been moved to the left of the torch, but it gives you an idea of what you can do for not a lot of $$$.

I'm using the eclipse 12 as my quarantine tank. I'm wondering what kind of mods you made to the filter for yours, since you're using LR as your biological filtration, did you remove the biowheel? I removed mine for reasons of it doing too good a job removing nitrite, but I still want the circulation of water passing through.

Not really anything new to report on the tank ... still going very well Won't be adding anything else to the tank as I will most likely be taking the system down within the next few months. I'm moving and will be upgrading to a bigger tank ... yah!

Dunno what the finances will be like but I hope to get something in the 50-75 Gallon range. If I find that I can't afford it I will probably end up in the 20-30 Gallon range.

    Later,

    Steph
