WOOT got my 90 gal yesterday

unfortunately cause the LFS arse, said 3 weeks for my new tank and it came in 5 weeks 2 days. I lost all my fish (after ordering the tank and waiting 2 weeks, I was really nice to the kid next door and gave him my 40 gal figuring it would be only a week that my fish would be left in a rubber maid on a trickle filter).Well 3 and almost a half weeks later past the 2 weeks I had already waited, the tank finally comes in. And my fishes were gone. Can you say "peeved off at LFS guy".

So, now i will be rebuilding my 90 gal. This should be a great project.

One thing you can never count on is shipping... no matter how good things look... there is always a risk of it not arriving on time. OVer the last 3 years I have had many clients mad at me for not delivering on a product when it was expected.

With no fish to now rush your build I would make sure you do everything that you can do, such as getting the tank drilled, adding the sump, etc.

Good luck, the planning, design, and build are my favourite parts. The sitting and waiting is no fun.

Sad about the fish, but like Rob said, this now gives you all the time you need to properly setup that next tank. I believe you want to do this right. Lets plan this thing to be bullet proof and get you re-started on a good note

Like I said in your other post,
i'd first get that puppy drilled or order another one reef ready and use this one as a sump/refugium etc.

Let us know what you decide.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

Hey Liv, maybe for "a small fee" we could go drill the tank for him. With the snow that we have today, I can't find any reason NOT to go.

Well thanks for all the words of encouragement guys.

No steve, i really just buy my fish. First off, ever try catching a wild fish when he's got MILES of ocean where he can run to. And knows the reef and it's hiding spots, like his life has depended on it all his life! LOL. You ain't EVER going to catch one. Not without some ingenious fish traps and leaving them overnight with bait. And that would land you in the butt raping slammer here. Cause that's very illegal.

I have picked up a few fish now and then from cayman, but it's because they were hiding in old conk shells that I brought home. Baby surgeon fish (which I threw back cause they grow too fast) and baby yellow tail jewel fish ( i kept him cause he's the nicest fish in the sea). I had a few butterfly fish, but because they are endangered. I put them back in the ocean. Found a few eels, threw them back. They would eat my fish and at around 30 to 60 dollars a pop for a fish here, no thanks. And once I did find a octopus. Thought it was a lump of mud in my conk shell bin. Every time i go snorkeling i pick up the old conk shells instead of coral. They give off calcium in my water and I don't harm the reefs 8). Plus they always have neato growth on them, like alot of purple and red colors. So it makes my tank look cool.

But i do get all my live sand for free here, and the base rock I want (that's a bonus). But no coral. I am not about to go chipping at the coral for caribbean coral. Oh ya, and all the natural sea water I want to do water changes with that I can use.
