    what silicone is safe for aquariums???

    just wondering what kind of siolicone is safe to use, we picked some up "GE" makes it, its for windows and doors, not sure if we want to use it though.

    Make it sure it doesn't contain any anti-mildew agents.

    GE 1200 silicone is safe for aquariums.

    I used the one from home hardware stores. they have it in clear, white and black and its specifically written on the tube for aquarium use.

    I would not use anything from GE other than the GE1200.

    rats, that is the exact kind the store had, was exactly that stuff too. I am looking for silicone. I will try to find some 1200 stuff. But asking these guys in teh store is like talking alien. No one who works for minimum wage knows anything about the stores they work in. Not even the departments they work in.

    So your sorta directed to the place and you gotta look on your own.

    If it is for attaching overflows, or baffles the GE Silicone I Window and Door is all I have every used without issue based on many recommendations. If it is for building an aquarium then you want the proper silicone, which I believe is the 1200 mentioned above.
