    live rock question

ok so i am looking after a friends tank a few days ago i woke up and there were some white areas on their live rock. i thoguht it might have been when i left the light on for an extra couple hours so i looked on google and ya thats what it said when other ppl had the same problem. unless something died in there i dont know whats going on because it was going away the color was returning. and this morning there is a huge patch of white on the rock. i dont know if this is the snails eating the algea away from alrdy white rock or what. or if the rock was alrdy a white shade. cause its not white white its brownish white but it looks white under the light. everything is still alive i think a shellfish might have died but i got him outta there in within a day at most cause i checked them each night. thoughts i wish i had a camera so i could show you :P.

could be some dieing coralline algae, it is usually pink / purple / green in color and turns white when it dies. it is common for this to happen after LR has been moved to a new tank and sometimes takes a while to show the results.

let us know if it gets any worse or changes.

    Hey Kyle,

Sounds like the snails are making a 'clean spot'. There isn't any coralline on the rock yet. No worries.. it's all good.
