    First Death

Our Porcelain Crab that we had for 12 Days died today.

We saw our serpant star reaching for somehting and then noticed he was trying to get the crab, after nudging him with a net and not moving we knew he was dead.....

We're testing all our parameters right now, so far our nitrate shows 0 and we will list the rest within the next 30mins.

since we got him, we haven't changed anything at all. The tank is 3 months old, do these guys need an established tank????

Thanks for any help you guys can give, we're now worried about the rest of the tank.

i'm pretty sure its not, I pulled the "body" out. it was still real hard to the touch, would him molting do that?

You've got me excited now, we never thought of it. is there anyway to check for sure? or do we jsut have to wait til if we see him?

I had mine for a good 6 months before it died. very similar stable parameters as yours.. but my calcium wasnt as high.

mine always molted very regularly but before it died, it didnt molt for a while and had coraline buliding up on its shell...

i dont know the average lifespan on these guys but i wonder if they do stay in captivity for long term.

well upon further inspection of the body lol, I went to pick him up with tweezers by the back shell, and the shell just popped right up revealing nothing inside. we also noticed only a clear lense over his eyes. but everthing is intact even his fans, I didn't think they would be able to molt there fans, but maybe they do.... this crab had us panicing, meanwhile hes probably in there laughing at us haha
