    Need water help!

I've been battling parameters for a few months now, and it's driving me nuts! Low alk, low calcium, low ph! Grrrr. Anyways, I was dosing with reef calcium and reef complete. I started using reef builder, and that helped bring my ph back up, I'm sitting at 8.2 for awhile now. Alk and calcium were still a problem. I switched to C-balance two part when I ran out. Now I've been using c-balance daily for a week (3caps calcium morning, 3 caps Alk in the evening) and after one week........

    Predator tank 450 calcium, 7dKH alk, 8.2ph
    Reef Tank 300 calcium, 6dKH alk, 8.2ph

I do 5 gallon water change (10%) weekly, and I did a few 25% changes about a month ago.

    What else can I do?

    salt

RODI water bought locally. Same salt most of the other reefers use up here. Salt was oceanic, that seems to be when the problems began. I've switched back to instant ocean, they are the only two brands readily available up here, and I picked up 70lbs in the classifieds for 30 bucks. I really thought oceanic was a better salt, but I had no problems till I switched to it, come to think of it.

i don't know if it was the salt but a test will prove one way or the other...... i dose nothing to maintain pH, WC's do it all, i can't even remember when it was less than 8.2 ( or anything else )

another question, how do you test your pH, i use a calibrated digital tester and have found the titration / test strip method lacking for this param.

maybe make up a batch of new SW and test it, you wont know till you do :b6:

i don't like IO either but i wont get into that and i understand you have to work with what you can get. i am blessed by living in the hotbed of SW retailers and have found what i feel is the most honest and reliable retailer of them all.

PS: while i don't like IO, i do understand that it is one of the most consistant but i just want more
