    New 150G Build

    Hey guys!!!

We're back and we're setting up a new tank haha.

We've had our 65G running for just over a year now and have decided to upgrade.

We picked up a 150G (5x2x2) for a good price.
Our current equipment list that we have is:

    -150G tank (2x 3/4" returns, 1 1/2" drain in middle)

-30G sump (baffles and everything setup for fuge)

    -Poesidon 3 return pump

    -Octopus recirc 200

    -2x 250W halides with xm 20k bulbs

    -2x 48" VHO

-3x 5G buckets full of sand

-100lbs of fiji LR (Also 70lbs in our current tank that will make the trip over)

We've finished the stand. Stained and clear coated it. Tanks on top (its a heavy sucker). Plumbings all ran. Sump is currently in the mist of being put in place and skimmer is in place.

So far we are at the point where we are starting to fill it and we would love to get some feedback and suggestions before the tank gets to heavy to do any modifications that may need to be done.

We have quite a few pictures and will hopefully have them up on here today or tomorrow.

    Thanks!

As you can see in the last pic the return section in very small.

We are thinking we have 2 options since its a finished basement and there are no water lines near that corner of the house.

    1. Knock out the baffle and use the fuge/return area as just a return.

    2. Add an auto top off, with the water being supplied by either a 5G water Jug or a 10G tank we have. Water would be fed via aqualifter.

We've never had an autotop off so not positive on how they work. Is it jsut a solenoid that would turn power on to the pump when the float switch lowers?

    The lights....

    Putting it all together..

A question for the pics below... Is it ok that I extended the wire connecting to the VHO ends? The yellow wire comes straight off the ballast, I then added the white wire to extend to the ends.

Trying them out on the tank before finishing the canopy (wouldn't mind getting some ideas of how to do the front cover lol thats why I'm saving it for last haha)

Excuse the mess, I'm not the cleanest worker haha

I believe the light are 9-10" from the rim of the tank. Not to sure where the water level is going to sit yet.

Couple pics of the 100lbs of LR...

Doesn't look like much but its a huge container, Just this rock should fill the tank quite a bit.

Should the inside of the canopy need to be sealed or painted?

I was only thinking of getting the tank together when building it, to much excitment haha.
