    upgrading our aquarium

As it stands we have a 90 gallon with corals and fish and inverts but we are upgrading to a 125 gallon (72x18x24). Right now for lighting we have a 4 foot T5HO lighting fixture (2 white bulbs and 2 blue) that we just bought. I'm not sure how we are going to incorporate this lighting fixture for the new tank and what lights will need to be added ? Not sure if we add some Metal Halide if that would be sufficient? We are also going to be building this one into a wall so we will be limited for space...Please help....

your 4 feets t5ho's are fine. I'd personnaly convert all t5ho's bulbs to actinics only and add a few MH's. 3x250w or 3x 400w. Good reflectors go a long way, and you can grow anything on 250's and good reflectors.

or if you want t5's only.. maybe add another set if you can fit it.

I like a mix of both systems.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

Thanks for the info. I think that is what we will do. We'll add 2 MH and see what happens...Thanks again

2 on 6feet is hard unless they are high off and are top notch quality reflectors.

i like a mix too but maybe with your limited space, adding more t5's would work best. what kind of area are you looking at???

is it being built into an existing wall or something new??

are you planning a sump and what kind of access will you have?

what do you want to keep?? ( corals etc.... lighting requirements will vary )
