    Unhappy FoxFace not Behaving

So, i had the FoxFace for a week now.
Eat great, doing his job but....
He is still dark, always hidding, spine up...
And to top it off, my dwarf Angel is now beeing nipped At and hidding 24/7 plus breathing heavily.. obviously its the foxface's work!
    Anything guys?
im real lost and also pissed off!

    how old is this system??

sounds like you may be going a little to fast, the heavy breathing and tattered fins may also be from an ammonia spike. how many fish have you added??

have you tested your water recently?? can you post them too.

did you notice this after turning the new sump on??? what did you use for adhesive??

also be careful working in the tank, especially when the fox face is so stressed and acclimating, they have a venomous spine on their back.

some fish can take longer to acclimate and get their behavior under control.
how crowded is your tank ? and is their ample space for both fish to hide properly ?

the heavy breathing i'd be worried about.. like a4 says.. i'd check params,...
which dwarf angel do you have ?

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

Well the tank used to be 10 months, thats before i moved it. now it been runing for 2 weeks only, no new addition exept the Fox.
He seems to be getn better, less shy, eats well, gets out of the cave more.
The Angel is dwarf Bi-color, who was in the tank and the biggest fish until the Fox. I guess it might have been a territorial thing, but there is plenty of hidding space. all params chk out ok. all at 0, 8.3, 1.025, 12/13 kh, temp 78/80 , 10hours cycle, 10h actinic, 7h MH. ill put my info under my name asap ill figure out how
Duno im 90% sure was the fox nippin @ the angel, seems to be better today, i guess i jumped the gun when i saw all that comotion!
AS for Ammonia i think my test is corrupt, get all dark and crystalize. the color seems ok but.... its the only fish with the problem tho...
Thx ill go buy a new amo test kit.

    good to hear.

i wonder if you have a mini cycle with the move???

the foxface usually isn't very aggressive but he wont put up with any crap. i'm thinking the angel ( is a little aggressive ) is trying to flex his muscles ( his tank ) and the foxface isn't having it. they should calm down once the new boundaries are established. though i wouldn't expect them to stop chasing each other on occasion, i think they llike it.

lets us know how the angel makes out.

Yes, was there all along. you got it!!!
Its the Angel getn nip for tryin to be Rip!! ahah i hope hes gona chill soon!
I been looking for the cycle, i did move the tank from 30G no sump,
to my 100G setup, and i had about 50lbs of live rock cycling for over a month.I guess the xtra water changes i did probly helped a bit 2
    plus the very stong skimmer.
I didnt see no trace of anything yet. Still looking tho, 10th day of vodka dosing, lots of hair algae wich tells me i do have Phos and nitrate... but not on test.
Worse hit were the Corals, they are all in the 50/50 margin, survival or death.
I suplement, point feed, and change the flow until i find a good medium.

Have you thought about installing a phosban reactor? You could try getting some margarita snails and a few turbo snails for the hair algae.

IMO, look for trochus or astraea before the margaritas ( and even turbos ). margaritas are a cooler water species ( NA pacific coast ) and can usually only tolerate the higher temperatures for a couple months.

the fact that you have algae growing shows that there is PO4 in the system. using a remover will help to combat the algae but finding and removing the source is the long term solution.
