    What the !@## is this !!

    I bought a rock of Zoa today, while i was FW dippin it i found those 2 hanging in there... looks like a clam,walk like a snail... as long aS its reef safe
    anyone have a clue on those guys??

    mussles of some kind.
    usually reef safe.
    i'm not sure on the sp. but i've had them too.. and they lived for quite some time too.

    moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
    planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

    possibly stomatella ( good reproducing snail ) but a couple more pics would help greatly. you say it moves, does it move fairly fast?? try to get a pic with them moving.

    does he only have one side to the shell??

    does his shell look like a fingernail?? with a snail underneath???

    After i posted, since i didnt found any pics on the web, i went n isolated em.
    And after 10/15 min the small one opened and showed me some tongue.
    Clam it is
    Was just a weird shell ive never seen.
    Tought at first on the side of snail since it was moving, never seen a clam moving on its tongue but without beein fast its very fun to see a clam buzin around!

    ya.. clams can move.. mussles too.
    I had a small colonny of them once that came on a LR.. I left them be.. it was just something else to add to the hobby and study and watch.

    Gotta love LR and saltwater
