    Is Nitrile Reef-Safe?

    Hi guys,

I was flipping through the Lee Valley catalog the other day (almost as dangerous as the LFS:b15 and saw that they have a product called Protective Pruning Gloves that are 25.5" long heavy-duty, waterproof gloves, designed to protect your arms when pruning. They are made from a material called nitrile and are apparently good for cleaning ponds.

Do you think they are safe for reef tanks? At $22 they may be perfect for some cleaning tasks. I'd hate to pollute my tank with them though if they aren't safe.

    Thanks!

If, in doubt, you may want to try the Aqua Gloves from Coralife.

They're about the same price and length.

i'm sure they are safe Pat. Nitrile is much stronger then latex btw.. I use similar gloves all the time when doing mecanical work on the cars/trucks/motorcycles..
    as well as painting etc.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.
