    What is this??

I have these growing on in my tank. They are starting to get larger and more of them. The largest is around 1" wide. At first I thought it was Mermaids Cup but these are white not green.

    Padina Scroll Algae (AKA Funnelweed)

... Excerpts from the book Reef Invertabrates... pg 107. pic on pages 82, 106.

    - A beautiful species that is prevented from growing in many tanks with herbivores stocked too early. It commonly sprouts from Fiji Liverock.

It occurs in hues of gray, white, yellow, and pale brown. May also occur with irridescent blue/green highlights..... Notoriously difficult to ship and transplant.... it can grow vigorously and may be regarded as a nuisance, but is rather easy to control mechanically. Aquarists have little to worry about this algae as a long-term problem since it is not believed to be especially noxious and is readily grazed on by herbivores....

    Hope that helps...
