Unhappy So of I went to get the water tested at the RS.....

I went to the RS today to get the water parameters checked as I'd run out of my calc test kit and have to wait for another to arrive.
And he uses the Hagen 'Master Test Kit'....
    The results were interesting.
    PH - 8.3 to 8.5
    Alk - 16 dkh
calc - 680 (I told him to stop the testing the calc. so the full reading is unknown......)

    My kits (mainly AP) were
    PH - 8.2
    Alk - 9
calc - 450 (checked a week ago and no additives or changes)

Makes me wonder about the Hagen brand....The Hagen PH kit I bought was out from day one, (and I subsequently got an AP one) and I asked him to use mine and his, to see if there was a difference. (identical tests and kits)
His Hagen - 8.3 to 8.5 ( we had trouble telling which colour it matched!)
    My Hagen - 8.7

Just thought you might like to know the results.

wow, that can really mess up someone's tank if they were relying on those kits.

hence it is good to buy good kits like the SALIFERT or SEACHEM. aLso you can buy a ph pen that is awsome. just stick it in some tank water and you know your ph.

    Cool

I believe that IJO will be adding these soon to the cart here and also refractometers. There an awsome addition and very accurate as wel as I'm sure the price will be unbeatable.
