    Unhappy glass buildup

    hi,
I've noticed that some reefers clean there glass about once a week with a magnet. For me, I seem to be doing it almost every 2-3 days.... and if I don't do it, it starts to flow with the current and grow like crazy. When I finally get around to it, I get debris floating around everywhere.
First, what is it? (algae I would suppose)
second, is it normal to clean so frequently?

it's film... you clean it everyday? I have hair (I think) but I'm not shure cause I've never seen it before.... the hair is on the rock and it looks like little balls of green hair (getting bigger)

yes I clean it almost every day or so and this is quite the norm and its actually a type of phyto so its good for the tank. The hair algea is the balls of fluff that your seeing and can get out of control. I love the MAGFLOAT magnets as you can leave them in your tank and its takes like 2 seconds to clean the glass and it also acts as a good NORI holder/.

Nori is natural seaweed that is roasted or dried, and believe it or not is actually a human food consumption item used in oriental cooking. In particular, the roasted type is most often used as wrappers for making rolled sushi, while the dried type may be used for this purpose as well as making seaweed soup and rice balls.

yes.. but make sure it does not rust.. iron oxide.. not good with saltwater.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.
