    Weekend Away

    Hey
I am planning on going away for 4 days this weekend and was wondering what kind of food I should leave in my 25 gallon tank, Are the weekend feeders used for freshwater fish any good.
I have 2 fake clowns, 2 sm anemones, 2 damsels and a few crabs and snails in my tank. Does anyone know of a trick to feed mysis shrimp. I bought some the other day and find the pieces of shrimp are too big for my clowns.
    Thanks

    Cool Boss

don't sweat it, just feed a good meal before you leaveand they'll be fine for 4 days. I left for 6 and no troubles. They jsut pick what they can and ate like pigs when I returned.

Most people say that those weekend feeders for freshwater tanks is just chalk - very little food value.

I wouldn't worry about 4 days at all...I've left my fish for a week with no problems. I actually think it's good for the system to not feed once in a while. Usually about once a month I won't feed my fish for 4-5 days. It allows the critters, etc, and picking fish to clean up a bit...

The only thing two reef keepers will agree on, is what the third reef keeper is doing wrong!

When I left for a month, I left premeasured amounts to be fed to my fresh tank in the snack sized sandwich baggies. One day it was one frozen cube, the next day a sandwich baggie. Every other night it was one algae tab for the night feeders. I made sure that the amounts were slightly less than I would normally feed. When I got back home, all the fish were alive and no algae bloom.

I pre-make the meals too in individual bags for the friend who feeds them.
The automatic feeders are ok they just do flake and pellets that's all.

I have heard that dividing everything up in ready to serve meals is the best way to go, it will deter overfeeding, because they won't want to run out of food while you are gone!
