    maxi Jet

    One simple question:
I am using a maxi 1200 for a protein skimmer on my tank (or would like to!) but when I connect the air intake, it spurt out water on the floor instead of sucking in air bubbles....
how do I fix this problem?
    Thanks

how do you connect your air hose on the powerhead.. it is with that little addon at the receiving end of the powrhead where you connect it in the middle .. like on a sea clone protein skimmer... PM me.. i got a setup most likely identical to you.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

Youa re getting resistance on the waterflow into the skimmer causing the water to back up and out of the intake hole. You have to use a maxi jet with less GPH that the skimmer can handle. The water has to flow without resistance into the skimmer. I hope this makes sense. What lind of skimmer is it. You may have to inject the air at a different location. I hope this makes sense. It's hard to explain.

That is strange and I've used MAX1200 on SEACLONES with no probes. try adding a piece of hose to extend the distance from the PH to the skimmer and see what happens.start with shorter lengths so you don't lose your push. You could also raise your powehead head up a bit because if its to deep its probaly easier to push water out than to suck air in.

    powerhead..

i have been using mine in my refugium as a secondary skimmer.
    just in case one fails...

I did not have any issues with mine.
But I did notice that the tubes could easily be moved inside..
maybe the tubes were misplaced ?

Mine is connected directly PH to Skimmer no tubes.. just one in one.

I had just over a foot of air hose on the maxi 1200 when I was using my seaclone. I had to get a new regulator to allow more flow ( air into the maxi ). Did you fill the skimmer up first. It's worth a try.
