    Lava Rock

    Just wondering if over time lava rock becomes as live as base rock......

    It can, but it is very hard and alot of animals can't burrow into them(pods and such) Lava rocks do have a lot of little holes in them which does support alot of bacteria, and pod life to. I personally have had a very poor succsess with trying to grow coraline on the stuff. But have used it as a base, but didn't care for the colour after a while and took it out.

    Lavarock works great!,

    I have it in my tank and after 8 months you can not tell the difference.. untill i broke some

    Some have concerns about it leaching heavy metals .. but i have never had issues.

    ive used tulfa in mine...it has seeded very nicely in 8mts under pc lights.
