    Canister filter advice.

I'm looking into adding a canister filter to me system with in the next couple of days. Just wondering on what brand you guys would recomend and why. So far locally I'm drawn to the rena XP3 or the Fluval 404. The rena is a good setup, but the fluval is an amazing price. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

you can use it to polish water and stuff. of to filter natural Seawater if you want to use it in your tank but other than that it's ok to have but not somthing to keep in your reef

definitly not worth the money. i use mine for polishing the water and carbon once every 3-4 weeks, and the rest of the time i run it empty just for water movement, but you van use powerheads for that

My Ehiem is running empty. I use a Fluval 2plus inwater filter/powerhead for any carbon treatments.

I was going to get one to polish water and for water movement. Right now I only have the 2 power heads, the skilter and the regent 30 - 60 power filter that came with the tank. To me it doesn't seem like enough flow. I was going to use the canister as the main filter and use the power filter as a place to house phospate and nitrate sponge if needed.

my fluval has been running flawlessly for years no complaints at all with it. Your gonna find ppl with different opinions its like buying a car there are tons of great ones but there are always a handful of those that have had problems.

cool thanks for the advice guys. What to you think of the idea I mentioned above about using the power filter as a sponge house or is the canister better for this
