    coraline algea

    i am getting coraline algea in my tank my question is why do people find this beneficial . Secondly can u get it to spread more rapidly

    you can get it to spread by keeping your calcium levels at at least 400. also with sufficient lighting HTH

    Corraline algea growth is usually a sign of good health and water chemistry in a reef. It also inhibits the growth of hair algea where it has grown.
    It needs very little light to grow, in fact it grows slower under metal halides. What it does need, is sufficient calcium and magnesium, but what it needs even more is a stable alkalinity.

    A another good way to make it spread faster is to scrub some of it and let the pores spread, so that it settles in different parts of the tank.

    If you REEEALLY want that look, there is always nail polish to paint the rocks with.... ( I'll just crawl back under my little rock now...)oof:
