    Exclamation Make it better!

So any ideas on why my PH drops in my QT to 7.5-6. I have been doing 25 percent water changes every day or every other day. Everything else is OK. It is barebottom 29G with a fluval running foam & floss & 2 N.O. bulbs. I have a maxijet 1200 running in there periodically but it shoots the temp up from 78-79 to 82-83. It also looks kinda murky although it looks like it might be clearing up. I had to move my 2 percs to my display as the were looking a little stressed. I hope that was not a mistake. Would an airstone & pump help this out. The fish seemed kinda gaspy in there also.

is there any air exchange ? cauz ph will drop like a fly if no o2 gets replenish.. those poor little guys must be choking..

i'd get a power head for movement.. and maybe add a air tube to it a little while everyday. or a air pump with a stone.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

I'd read that an air pump wasn't very effective at increasing gas exchange & that the best way to do this was surface agitation (i.e. power heads).

Have I been lead astray? FW it didn't seem to make a difference, however adding a power head aimed across the top of the water did (just underneath). Maybe I undersized the air pump or maybe marine works differently, I'm still learning

    Cheers!
There is nothing so permanent as a temporary measure.

depending on the stone you can get smaller bubbles...
but you are right.. in his case.. a powerhead would be better.
