    Too much dechlorinator

What are some of the problems with adding too much dechlorinator with top ups and water changes? I've been told that the quality of our water in Ottawa is very good compared to other cities, especially American cities. Therefore, is it necessary to use a dechlorinator with top ups?

Absolutely .. Ottawas water contains calorie and ammonia bonded together to create what is referred to as Cloramean(spelling). It must be removed before it is used in your tank. RO/DI water is the recommended solution. If however you do not have a RO/DI unit make sure the chemicals you use will breakdown cloramean. The other option is to use distilled water or RO bottled water.
