I think you're referring to bomix sand. I'd try Rona and Home Depot first. It's play sand (like for sand boxes).

yup.. is there anything i need to look for in the sand? like any bad stuff?

    the bomix is

    Bomix Play Sand:

    White play sand

A white silica-free, washed and graded sand. Ideal for children’s sand boxes and flowerbed decorations.

    is this one ok?

Silica-free? I wonder what it is? Could it be aragonite?

I think it's a type of calcilte but not argonite (it passes the vinegar test). I have it in my tank. mouse6196 just added it to her tank. Others have used it too. Seems to work fine. A bit white too start with but gets nice and dirty :-)

I bought mine at the Rona store on Innes Rd last December. It was quite cheap.

Hey Fisherman....Isn't an amazon tank supposed to be on the soft side? Meaning a lower ph, The biomix sand will help keep your ph up to 8 or so on the ph scale.

But if you looking for white sand.....try the stuff they use to filter swimming pools with or any play sand, but it won't be white.

Hey Flame*Angel biomix sand is very fine in grade.......either wash it by hand or use a pillowcase to wash it in, so it wont get all over the place.
