    what was on my clown

hi everyone ive had my clows for about 3 days and everything is just fine but 2day i woke up to see a leach looking thing on one of the clowns fins, i had to pick at it to take it off.

It has black eyes with long legs (clear legs it has around 12 of them ) It has a round back which is brown (in the middle) and its tips are white.

What is this thing and do my clown need medication?

    thanks for everyones help

Did it look something like this? Cirolanid Isopod

    Cirolanid Isopods

Some of the nastiest animals that may find their way into a reef tank are cirolanid isopods. These are parasites/predators on marine fish, and occasionally on aquarists.

Woud a UV sterilizer kill something like these though? They're pretty big. Well, relatively.

UV will kill just about anything that goes through it. If it is not killed outright it will be so seriously affected that its ability to make serious trouble will be removed. The simpler the life form the more affected it will be by the UV light. UV light is strong enough to blind fish and you for that matter.

I agree but the only prob is getting the buggers to go thru.
on a sub positive note, there not that common and one is pretty rare so hopefully thats it. there was some info I read way back that said for some explain reason they don't normaly last long it tanks? why, no clue. I've never seen one personally and hope you see no more.

I had one on my little clown goby. I could see the little bugger was full of my goby's blood! I wasn't able to catch my little clown goby to pick it off. About 2 day's later it was gone, never to be seen agin. My clown goby is fine and it's about a year and a half later.
