    Canopy fan

    Hi everyone ,

I would like to have your opinion on fans. I have always used computer fan and I found that they oftenly broke because of the salt. What kind of fan do you use and do you think that fan specially built for reef are better and that the difference of price worth it?? Thank you !

go to your local computer recycling store and get some big server case fans with the chrome grill. they go for ~2 to 5$.
they run 12v or you can get AC ones too.. but I find them alot more noisy.

moving.. so temporarily out of SW :b8:
planning next tank, possibly 60x30x20 on 2x plasma.

I've used ORION fans, and radiochack fans.
My next one will be an industrial 24v fan.

i just have a big "Blizzard" oscilating fan (from staples) sitting on top of my canopy, tilted down. it does the trick and is far enough from the water that it doesnt get any salt creep.

I use 120mm case fans as well and yes they do break. I am looking for a replacement right now. Anybody know where to buy them on Montreal? Active Electronics is out of stock.

I'm using a 4" industrial muffin fan. Very effective. I got it at a surplus place - Princess Auto.

I use the 120mm case fans. I've had the same two running since I statrted just a little over 2 years nows. If your having issues with your fans it's probably 'cause your trying to suck air out of your setup with them. In that case they will foul up very quickly and you be replacing them constantly. When your thinking through your fan setup make them take outside air pushed into the canopy. If your canopy is completely closed consider putting a wall vent grill openning somewhere in the canopy. Blow don't suck

I say other because I have no hood fans at this time and will check back here in a few weeks to see what is most popular.
