what percentage of natural and synthetic salt are you mixing? just a curious question. I honestly wouldn't worry about that much as when they make the salt I'm sure its in large batches and all premixed together. And your even mixing that with your natural water[which is already balanced]! What salt are you using?
just a side note, I personally know both TOUTOUCHE and TANG-MAN from here and at REEFCENTRAL and they are very knowledgable, very on the ball! I think vince must have a freaking library at home! This site has been steadly growing and there is a ton of info here!
One thing I've learned is that a fish or invert will 90% act the way its supposed to but you get the odd rouge who will defy the books.

Wow Johnny,
Thanks for the compliment! (I'll pay ya later )
As for a library, I have some of the better books...
And ofcoarse, there's the 'net... I do lots of reading of both.

I'm gonna steal a phrase I heard from Toutouche... which applies...
"Not all fish read the same books we do"
Tiffany,
You are very lucky to live where you are and have access to wonderful specied which I'm sure some of us have ever even seen. To add to that, even having access to Actual Seawater would be a dream for many of us as well!
I didn't mean to come down hard on you. After re-reading my post, it sounded a little rash. My apologies.

Not a problem.
I do like that quote "not all fish read the same books as we do"
And have been to marine central, and they are a wealth of Knowledge. All complements were deserved!!

IJO,
One of my reefer buddies has a pair of black ocellarus for a few years now, they spawn regularly in his tank.
Greg knows him (Otto), when you're in Montreal maybe we can arrange for you to visit and see them. It's about 15 - 20 min from Greg's house. (Driving Queebec style.. LOL)

It's not junk, it's un-assembled DIY!
