    Chlorine in waste water

I purchased an RO/DI unit to provide purified water for my saltwater tank, but I was wondering if I could use the waste water for my freshwater tank. It's certainly better than the tap, but I was wondering if it contained any chlorine or chloramine.

Do I need to condition (chlorine) the waste water prior to adding it to the freshwater tank.

Good question pickoff. I only use my waste water in my washer so I never put to much thought into ther quality of the waste water.

The use of the pre-filters will filter out the chlorine, otherwise the membrane will be damged by the chlorine. So my thought is there should be no chlorine in the waste water.

Now that you mention it, the manual does mention that the membrane can be damaged by chlorine. I think you are right. I won't condition it for chlorine or chloramine.

    thanks Apoon.
