Hope I don't step on anyones toes either, True actinics runs in the range of 400-420 nm on the light scale basically blues and purples. URI bulbs weather VHO or NO are true actinics.
Both run in the 420 range. Also Phillips lighting which made the first true actinics are only available in NO bulbs. So watts have nothing to do with it.

From all the info I have checked into 03 means it is a true actinic.VHOs just produce a higher intensity of the actinic phosphers.

Thx. for the input MINIATUS....I'm pretty positive that they are true actinics also. They peek out at 420nm the same as the VHO's.(just a lot less intense)
Either way I was curious with the response I received so I emailed the company that makes coralife NO's and VHO's to get their take on it.
    Cheers

Thx. again Miniatus...I checked out their site and I also emailed them the exact same letter as I did the company that makes the Coralife bulbs.

I'm not trying to wage war here at all....I just like knowing either way for my own personal torment.

I will post the response from either or both of the companies I emailed about this.

Thx. also to Toutouche for your responses.
    Cheers

    Finally an answer

Here is the email response I received from ESU..makers of both NO and VHO actinics....

    Bill,

Both the lamps (40W actinic and the 110W actinic) use the same phosphors and
produce a wave peak at 420nm. You are correct the lumen output will be
higher with the VHO but that is the only difference in the lamps. The lumen
output will depend on the type of ballast you are using. If you need more
    information please contact me.

    Another reply

    Bill,

Thank you for your e-mail. You are correct. It does not matter what the
wattage is both the NO and VHO are true Actinic phosphors and peek @ 420nm.
The NO's are less bright due to the fact of less wattage.

    Thank you,
    Jeff Saghy
    Cheers
