You have a good start there Fisherman. When you get you additional base rock you'll really be in business.

Thats a beautiful shell in your tank, I found one exactly like it beach combing in Costa rica...

Base rock is a good idea, especialy considering you already have 50# of LR.

ok instead of baserock i got a deal to pick up 50# more of established liverock.. from another tank tear down..

so i will have ~115# of liverock total in my 75gal.. all established from other tanks..

so my new question is, do i still add livestock slowly now and test?

    Thanks..

I thought we cleared that up already: yes! always add livestock slowly no matter what[old tank ,new tank] the system has to adjust as well as to see the behaviour and interaction of the new addition with other fish/inverts/etc.

On a new tank I would test regardless if its all cured rock.
ph/alk/and ammonia. You will probally have minimal cycling but you still need to know whats going on. wait a few weeks and then add a small clean up crew. another week or so and then try a small hardy fish that you want in there long term.

yeah.. ok.. cause the first week with the liverock didn't produce nothing but brown algae on my substrate and some of the rocks.. lol.. all my readings are zero..

what i don't want to do is wait the month and then add my livestock to have it cycle then.. (i hope that makes sense) so i just wasted the first month lol..

are clown fish hardy? i want those for long term..
